These things are pretty cool, but really pricey.  I wonder how many they will sell.

And is it me, or does it look like the carboy is moldy?  :o

What happens when you have a really active fermentation, one of the ones that requires a blow off tube, what does all that krausen forced into this device do to it?

OK, so you get a report via wifi that the temp is too high.  What do you do about it when you're not there?  To me, this thing is a solution looking for a problem.

You freak out and worry.  Drop whatever you're doing and go home to tend to your beer.

I've often thought that it might be nice to have a device that would track and log temps so you could see the hour by hour (or more frequently) temp fluctuation, but I don't really care that much.

Well, the technology is out there, but I'm sure it's pretty outside my budget. Very cool though :

I like the idea of not needing a hydro sample to monitor fermentation progress, but how would the CO2 monitor work if you're fermenting in a bucket? I have several that don't seal perfectly air-tight around the lid. Also, do they have a bucket and better bottle adapter? And how long is the probe? I brew 3-gallons in 6-6.5 gallon buckets and carboys pretty often, so I'd need the probe to get all the way to the beer in the fermenter.

It wouldn't. I thought the same thing.

I think it is cool.  But to me, it is cool at $20, and dumb at $100.  I bet it costs closer to the latter, therefore, to me, dumb.

It is especially cool to anyone (not me) that is doing brewing science at home.  Perhaps the AHA could buy a few and lend them out with their Science grants when needed.
