Making a starter using sweet wort

Im brewing a pale ale (AG) today and wanted to use some of the sweet wort for a starter for big brew this weekend. Should i boil these runnings first?
Primary:On Reflection APA
Lagering: Vienna
Drinking: Whenever I'm not working or driving

at least for a few minutes to sanitize. also, take a gravity reading so you can determine if/how much you need to boil off or dilute to hit your 1.040 target.
