Other Transportation at Conference?
« on: April 08, 2014, 08:02:58 am »
I saw that there will be shuttles to take people from the outlying hotels to the De Vos Center, but will there be any shuttles to and from the airport or at least a discount from a taxi company?  As it looks, a round trip cab ride from the airport will be about $60

Bump...

Maybe someone from the local committee can answer this?  Were there arrangements or suggestions instead of cabs for people flying in?

It looks like you can get downtown from the airport on the bus for $1.50. Bus 17 runs between the airport and Woodland Mall. Bus 6 runs between Woodland Mall and downtown, 1 block from DeVos. Bus 17 doesn't run on weekends though.

Unfortunately the typical transportation is by cab to downtown.  The suggestion i heard from the experience Grand Rapids people was to share a cab.  Fare is based on trip and is not per/person.

I'll suggest posting your arrival times here to join up with 2/3 people to split the fare.

So there is no shuttle service from the airport to the hotel?

Not to the Downtown hotels or Riverside.  I'd have to check the other hotel to be sure.  (It would be on the hotel site)

Any word on shuttles or groups going the Brewing Network party on Thurs as this is about 5 miles from the conference?

One would assume buses. We had buses at Minneapolis, SD, Seattle, Philly. That trend has a high probability.

Guess I have nothing to lose.  I'm staying at the Riverfront and arriving on Monday at 11:00 a.m.  I'll be departing for the airport on Sunday, anywhere around 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. will work.  From another thread, Metro Cab looks good (although I'm open to other suggestions).  Message me if you're interested in sharing a cab ride.

The party site said there would be shuttles to the party.

Started this thread to be a common place to establish ride shares between the airport and hotels in Grand Rapids.  Cabs are the most common way.  They charge per trip, not per person.  I'm told that $34 is the average cab fare.

I started the above thread, as an easy to spot thread name "Ride Share - Airport/Conference 2014"
