I tried to introduce myself to hopfenundmalz at least a half dozen times, but always someone was talking to him.  Popular guy.

A few ideas for next year.

I think the time and place (lunch break between seminars in a meeting room) and it's probably easy to set up in the future since AHA is already paying for the room.

I met a few people who didn't know about it but would have gone. Maybe it could be on the conference overview schedule next year? Or maybe that would attract way to many people and ruin it?

Major, I couldn't find you so I gave that empty HopCat growler to somebody local after the dinner.  Thanks for bringing it.  It sure beat the alternative!

Need to thank Sean. He bought that growler and I coaxed it away from him.

Combination of the conference in my state, and I have been going for a long time (9th a NHC). It is about the people you get to be friends with. That is what we look forward to each year, seeing the people we know from around the country.

I was busier than usual. My wife was crazy busy the whole conference, she did 18 hours of work. She was head steward, poured for the BJCP exam and Reception on Wed, and poured for a couple of talks.

Figured out who you are. We sat a few tables apart for the banquet, and congratulations on the Gold and Silver medals. Thought you were going to be the Ninkasi winner.

Yes, I would have remembered if it had been on the calendar.  I was constantly looking at that.

I'm in the front row on the far left.  I should have brought beer - but it was my first conference and I didn't know a whole lot about the protocol.  My question for San Diego is how to get beer out there, if I fly out there next June.  Any thoughts on that?  It would be nice to be able to ship some, like you would to a contest.

By the way - Denny and Drew's talk was the most entertaining one that I attended!  I had a lot of fun at the NHC and volunteered six hours, so I look forward to listening to the seminars I missed.

Cheers, all!

I'm sure you could ship to the hotel and get it at check in. Most will do that.

I've also checked lots of craft and homebrew in my luggage.

If you volunteered, you earn extra interwebz points! Good on you!

The conference depends on volunteers to do the behind the scenes jobs.

Thanks, Jimmy for the insight.  I have not checked a bag in so long that I didn't think about that!  Good to know on both counts.

Jeff - I wanted to give something back to the hobby and Carol was sooo grateful for the helpers.  Besides, pouring beer to beer enthusiasts is no hardship - the easiest volunteer job I have ever done, for sure.

Just pack it well and watch the weight. It's easy to go overweight with glass and liquid. Have a scale so you can check before heading to the airport. I don't use my largest suitcase for this because it easily gets too heavy.
