It's an old thread, but I just completed my first batch using the SS Brewing Tech Chronical 7 gallon. I do ferment in a basement that holds a steady 67 degrees +/- 1 degree all year round. Had that not been the case, I wouldn't have bought this.
I purchased it for ease of use, ease of cleaning and better separation of the trub from the good stuff. So far, I am pleased; about the toughest thing is taking the time to disassemble the two valves. The dump valve uses 3/4 NPT, which is apparently a bit tougher to find in stainless steel. I found a "lead free" brass one ad Lowe's, but it doesn't thread on past the first thread. SS website says they are going to be offering one, but I've come to notice that most of the things they say and propose take longer than usually anticipated, but no big deal.
So far, so good.
