I am looking at purchasing a 3-roller mill.  I do not need a new mill.  My current mill gets the job done. I just have a bad case of GAS (gear acquisition syndrome) after visiting NHC. 

With that said does anyone own a Crankandstein 3D or a Monster Brewing Hardware MM3?  I know that the MM3 is derived from the Crankandstein 3-roller mill, so we can skip that soap opera.  I like the MM3 hopper, but the third roller on the 3D has a less aggressive knurl.

I enjoy my Monster Mill 3.  I wish they had the 2.0s when i purchased but thems the breaks.  The 2.0 is easier to adjust and should slip less then the MM3.  I bought stainless but its probably overkill unless you are gonna wet mill or are in a moist climate.  They get an a+ in my book.  Make sure you get the shaft upgrade.

I have MM3 2" harden steel rollers for couple of years. Works pretty good. I put 20,000+ lbs thru it so far.

I had to take it apart once because grain got in between side plate and roller but it was easy to do.

So one for MM3 from me.

I wound up ordering a standard MM3, which is complete overkill for my needs.  My standard post-boil kettle volume size is 3.65 to 3.75 gallons. I mill 5 to 8 pounds of malt most of the a time with the occasional 10 to 13 pound 6-gallon batch.

As I stated above, this purchase is more of a want than a need. I already own a fixed-gap Schmidling Malt Mill.  I like the look of the 3-roller mill crush. A 3-roller mill definitely leaves more husk material in tact than a 2-roller mill, which a big plus when continuous sparging.  Plus, today was the last day to take advantage of NHC show pricing.

I stand corrected.  I must have confused their valid through date with that of another vendor.

I have the MM3.  I love it.  So much of a better crush than I see others get.  It really does a good job of seperating husk from meat.  I did have a friend at a brewery order it for me at 'brewery' price though... so that helped quite a bit when I bought it 3 years ago.

Some have discounts. Some will sell the display items when they are picking up, so they don't have to ship/haul them back. Saw one guy pull out a wad of cash to buy a 55 gallon pot just before close (don't know his savings). The MM was a 10% discount. Many of the online HBS have discount codes that you can use. Not a bad deal for conference goers.

There is also schwag and free samples to be had. Raffles and other contests. Did I say there is also beer poured at many booths. It is a great time.

Anyone who has a dry glass at NHC is going out his/her way to keep it that way.  Lagunitas was pouring full glasses of beer on Saturday.

No problem, I made the purchase yesterday.  Jeff and I purchased the same mill coming from the same mill. I have used a non-adjustable Schmidling Malt Mill since I started brewing all-grain beer in 1993; therefore, this mill will be a big change for me. I hope that I do not regret getting an adjustable mill because the non-adjustable Malt Mill is stupid proof.
