Question about commercial keg freshness

(1/1)

Influenze:
I have a commercial keg that I got over the Fourth of July holiday weekend. I used a Pony tap air pump to get the beer out, but I still have more than half of the keg left. I read that it will go flat in about 48 hours, my question is can I transfer this into a corny keg where I I have the fittings for my CO2 tank to carbonate it? Would this work or do I need to figure something else out for this before I end up losing the keg of beer? I tapped it Saturday at 3pm

Thirsty_Monk:
It would work but you are still up with oxidation issue.

Early consumption is recommended.

Influenze:
Hmm, ok. I guess I'll have to retrofit my home system with a sanke setup. I love craft beer, but also commercial "light" beers and have a commercial keg for it. Man, I would of loved to save this beer, but you learn as you go

mattybrass:
If you get a sanke tap for the commercial keg, you can fit it with a kit like this.

This will allow you to connect your ball lock connections directly to the sanke tap. no need to remove fittings

Those are great, but increase the clearance required. A 90 degree adapter is a nice additon.
