Old unopened smack pack of Wyeast 1056

I have a pack of Wyeast 1056 with a November 2013 date.  I'm wondering if this is toast or is it salvageable to use as a yeast starter and get enough cells to use for brewing.  I've never done a yeast starter or anything like before.

Should be able to get it going. Start small with a lower gravity and step up. Might be less expensive to buy a new pack, but it's fun

I've ranched up yeast that was close to 4 yrs old! Took 2 weeks but it can be done...
