Zymurgy Best Beers International/Foreign
« on: August 17, 2014, 12:33:25 pm »
Interested to see over the last few years a dominance of Belgian beers in the international category. The few UK beers are traditional, predictable and do not reflect the exciting beers produced by many small UK breweries.
Names like Thornbridge, BrewDog,  the Kernel, Brew by Numbers, Partizan, London Fields (and many other east end breweries) are producing really exciting beers from low alcohol table beers, Saisons, hop monster IPAs and Pales, black IPAs, stouts etc. All using hops from around the world.  None of these are reflected in the voting for the international section. Is this a reflection of availability?

Unlike the US, in the UK beer can be ordered online and delivered by mail. So we can get most UK beers And a few beers from many US brewers (unfortunately not Red River and only maybe 5 or 6 of the top 30). I recently bought a saison from Stillwater - which was really good! What's the limitation in the US - is it the risk of underage drinking??

Anyway this is a plea to visitors to the UK to forget some of the names that you are familiar with and try some of the brews from those listed above.
