I scratched my head all season over a recurring problem that I was experiencing with a few of the cultivars I planted last fall.  I figured that the problem was climate related.   The edges of the leaves would turn yellow before turning brown and dying (necrosis). I searched every hop growing related site for a name for this problem.  Not finding anything, I turned to general farming websites to see if my plants were being attacked by a pest whose primary host was one of the crops being grown in my area.  The pest turned out to be potato leafhoppers.  Potato leafhoppers are a serious problem for alfalfa growers, and the farm across the street from my property had at least twenty acres of alfalfa this year.  Looking back, the problem got worse when the farmer cut his alfalfa field.
