Sugar cubes for priming?
« on: November 06, 2014, 08:04:47 am »
According to Northern Brewer's priming sugar calculator and my math, 50 cubes of Domino brand sugar cubes should furnish 2.5 volumes of carbonation when bottled at 68 F or about one cube per bottle.

Has anyone ever tried this?

If my math is correct, it should be an easy way to add priming sugar.

Is the difference between for instance between  2.5 volumes of carb and 2.2 volumes of carbonation that noticeable?

Thanks in advance for your reply.
It's easier to read brewing books and get information from the forum than to sacrifice virgins to appease the brewing gods when bad beer happens!

This has been discussed before. I can't find the right sized cubes in my area, but it should work perfectly.

I generally keg, but I did purchase Domino cubes for surplus beer when my batch is bigger than a keg.  I have not had a chance to try the cubes yet.   On the plus side, you don't need a bottling bucket with the cubes.
