NO BREWING????????   ???  It's BIG BREW, buddy!

I'm doing a Rye IPA for Big Brew.  Hey, it was an "official" recipe a few years back and never let it be said that I don't live in the past!

Brewing an American Wheat on Big Brew day, slightly different than the posted recipe.  I can't follow a recipe without making a few of my own changes :).

Yeah, sadly Big Brew is woefully undersubscribed in Southern Cal. Instead about a thousand of us gather around a lake and drink our homebrew.

This year is the 20th Anniversary of the SC Homebrewers Festival and to celebrate we're having talks by Tomme Arthur, Bryon Burch and Vinnie C. Little known fact (outside of the SCHF at least) Vinnie was critical to the fest getting its start. He convinced his parents to hold the first editions of the fest at their winery in Temecula.

So yes, instead of brewing - I will be celebrating the other side of the hobby and be drinking while listening to all the chatter and dancing to the one and only Maltose Falcons Brews Band.

Man, that doesn't suck!  I'm happy that the weather forecast here for this weekend is 60s and sunny instead of 40s and rainy like usual.

Rebrewing a Weissbier for the NHC Finals on Friday. AHA Big Brew with the club on Saturday. Brewing a Vienna Lager on Sunday. Going to try to slip a nap in there somewhere too!!! ;D
If Homebrew & BBQ aren't the answer, then you're askin' the wrong questions... Cheers!!!

It's a German Pilsner on Monday. I took a vacation day to brew beer. It will be grillin', chillin'  and homebrewin' with the brew dawgs.

No brewing this weekend, want to bottle some beer, but will probably end up just kegging it.

I'm brewing my World Cup beers tomorrow. In honor of the US and England playing in the first round (and my English heritage), I'm splitting a six gallon batch of 1.041 wort and using English hops in one half and American in the other. Calling one an APA and the other a Best Bitter, but they don't really match either style. Hopefully, they don't suck :P
It's such a fine line between stupid and clever.

Yeah, so I just went through and did a quick tasting panel of my beers for SoCal Homebrewer's Fest and these are the beers I'm bringing.

Spring Saison with Citra
Hop Woo IPA+ (dry hopped with Centennial)
American Pale Chocolate Oat Malt Mild
Apple Wood Smoked Boddington's Clone (aka Popo the Smokey)
Pecan Smoked Wee Heavy (aka Southern Highlander)
Tempting Midnight (Dark Belgian Wild Ale aged on Pinot Noir infused French oak)
Belgian "Cream Ale"
and..
a Sour Cherry Sparkling Tupelo Mead

An American Pale Ale.  Brewing with the MUGZ club for Big Brew Day.  Should be a good time.

Brewing a Roggenbier, bottling a cilantro stout, and moving my SA triple bock clone to lager in the kegerator.  It's shaping up to be a great weekend!
