HI EVERYONE, I SAW ONE OF THESE IN A JUNK YARD AND I WAS WONDERING IF IT COULD BE USED AS A CARBONATION TANK, JUST LIKE A CORNY KEG. THEY ARE PRETTY SIMILAR, BUT I DON'T KNOW IF SOMEONE HAS EVER TRIED IT, OR THINK IT MAY WORK.

IT'S THERE WAITING, FOR A VERY LITTLE PRICE, LIKE 70 DOLLARS OR SOMETHING. FOR STAINLESS STEAL, I SEE IT AS AN OPPORTUNITY. WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT IT?

I know it's stainless, but I couldn't see myself reusing something that had those chemicals in it. Especially when regular kegs can be bought for not much more.

I THOUGHT ABOUT THAT TOO. I FORGOT TO MENTION IT IS THREE TIMES LARGER IN CAPACITY THAN A CORNY. DOES IT MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE ? MAYBE IF I CLEAN IT THOROUGHLY?

I think you could AT LEAST use it as a cleaner/sanitizer work horse. With a good cleaning, you should be able to remove any chemical residues, as long as those residues (or residual water, etc) haven't corroded the interior.

I would check the inside for pitting or rouging. Ideally, you'd want to check if it seals under low pressure (5 psi or so).

If you can get it really clean I'd think about using it as a fermenter. if it's got a 15+ gallon capacity it would be perfect for 10-12 gallon batches.
