ALMOST perfect brew day (question)
« on: November 15, 2014, 08:44:25 am »
Happy to say I had a 95% success rate today, nothing completely fudged. I did add a late addition of LME and I'm not sure if I burnt some of it, or this is just something interacting with the copious amounts of Hop Shots I added. Pic below, any thoughts?
Will this make my beer taste off?
They almost look like vinegar droplets in oil, dark brown in color.

*Flame was on while I added the DME.

I have heard the hop shots can leave spotty deposits on your kettle, maybe these are clumps of hop shots waiting to settle? Just a guess, have not used the shots myself

Possibly...I've burned LME before and it looked like big black sheets.

That looks exactly like Hop Shot residue. That stuff is nasty, but it works well.

Yep HopShot residue. No issues with that in the beers I have used them in.

Isn't it nice to get some reassurance for a great brew day?
