Keep us posted...looking good.....I wonder just how you plan to get samples
of the beer as it ages? What is your plan/method?

i did a regular ipa in there just before christmas and i let stay in there about 12 days.   the barrel had just had some balcones blue corn whiskey in it, so it probably picked up some flavor from that.

i'm doubting i get as much whiskey from it this time as it has been filled with distilled water and campden tablets for about three months or so.

i plan on letting it sit in there for about three or four weeks and then i'm going to bottle some and keg the rest.

i'll keep the thread updated.

the last beer that went in there was about 7%.  this one is closer to 11%.

sorry!  i kegged some of it (which is gone) and i bottled some of it (maybe five bottles left).

the beer picked up ALOT of oak goodness...  actually it picked up so much so as to almost not resemble a barrel aged double ipa as the oak really covered up the hops in the nose.  the taste was still pretty hoppy, but there was much oak character as well.

next time i'll cut the time down from six to three weeks.  i have a double ipa right now that i'm going to put in it over the weekend and then keg it for emerald coast beer fest.

as far as the beer in the first post goes, think more oaked arrogant bastard, but with more citrusy hops.

How about Now??? ???
