What's your New Years Eve beer?
« on: December 31, 2014, 09:28:08 pm »
My wife and I shared a 2012 Firestone-Walker Parabola (12.5% barrel aged RIS), a Rodenbach Grand Cru, and an EKU 28. I think we're gonna ring in midnight with a Bells Old Ale.

Happy New Year!

We lived it up with a bottle of Schramm's Heart of Darkness.

I have a couple lagers sitting @30F so all I had on tap was a cider. It was a local orchard's early tart blend and I back sweetened just enough for balance. So the beer was Belgian stuff in bottles - Westmalle, Rochefort, DeDolle, Dupont, Boon. Good stuff.

I had three pints of IPA with my good friend (who is also my banker) at Yellowhammer and then came home and had some 4 Roses single bbl. I've been sick with what may have been the flue since the day after Christmas and while I was feeling better yesterday I fell asleep by 8:30.

That is great stuff! I had a sample at the NHC in Grand Rapids and I was so impressed that I decided to give Mead making another shot the past year.

We had a bottle of Element brewing company's 2012 anniversary brew which was a bigger version of their "Extra Special Oak". It was very good.

We had a North Coast Old Ale from 2013, and some Alesmith Olde Ale from this year. Then we made French 75s. Happy New Year everyone!

One of those times when you pull that special occasion bottle off of the shelf and appreciate it. Great stuff, agreed.

I brewed a saison for the NYE party I was supposed to attend but I've been sick all this week so I stayed home and sent my wife to the party without my beer. I stayed home and drank a Real Ale Coffee Porter followed by a homebrew barleywine from early 2013 and a biere de mars with brett from late 2013. Not the most exciting night but good beer helped.
