Best app for finding good beer places
« on: December 04, 2014, 12:13:55 pm »
My old Blackberry was put to rest and now I have entered the world of iphone.  I was wondering what you thought is the best app for finding breweries or tap-houses in the city your are in?  My search on-line turned up Tap Hunter and Brewery Passport.

Thanks for your help.

I use Untappd for finding breweries.  I have only used it in the PNW though I assume it works as well elsewhere.

I was thinking that Google Maps might work. So I tried it. I typed "beer" into the search box and clicked enter. The closest beer to Goldendale is 90 miles away at Belmont Station in Portland. Sorry Full Sail, Double Mountain, Logsdon Farmhouse, Everybody's, Walking Man, or any of you guys from the valley for that matter. But, BS does have good beer for sale.

I like that site a lot but I'm not sure it's being maintained like it used to be. There are some things on the Chicago map that are out of date.
It's such a fine line between stupid and clever.

I have found the Yelp app is a decent one to use. It's not perfect though.

I don't think there is a great solution. Beer Mapping was my go to, but we have breweries opening so rapidly in NC it is difficult for anyone to keep up. I've not figured out how to use Untappd for bars and whatnot and tap houses are opening on a regular basis as well. If someone finds something post up.
It's not a popularity contest, it's beer!
