All great suggestions guys, but how many of those fit the OPs requirements? Dark or black, british, with seasonings, and scotch or rum in it...

Good point, but that description only indicates what classy beer means to me. With this topic I am curious what does it mean to others.

So far so good ideas! :)

The times I've seen British guys in suits in pubs, they've been drinking Stella  8)

Nothing wrong with that IMO, Stella is a very tasty beer.

Wow, how perception can vary. In Belgium, Stella is about as classy as Gary Glitter shouting out his innocence in court.

It has a poor reputation in the UK as well. Even google knows it. Google "beater beer" and the Wikipedia entry for Stella is the first result. According to the entry; Stella attempted to have the entry modified to remove the phrase.

About as classy as Satan's rectum  :) Still there's a LOT worse: the no-brand canned beers from the supermarkets. and "malt liquors" such as Gordon Finest Titanium (http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/gordon-finest-titanium)./201743/)

Yeah, I thought that was more widely known when I posted.
It's such a fine line between stupid and clever.

If that is classy, I'll have a non-classy beer any time.

Another vote for Bohemian Pilsner.  The perfect balance between malt and hops.  Plus, it comes in a green bottle, which just oozes class.

Nothing says class like a pair of Colt 45 Torpedo's duct taped to your hands in a game of Edward 40-hands.
Though a beer helmet with a couple of Natty Ice's in it is a close second.
