Y'all are filling me with confidence. I'm due in VT in less than a week hauling a 26 foot camper. 7 years in Cali. just had my first taste of driving in snow coming over grants pass in NM and it went okay (knock on wood). wondering if I should be looking for a camper storage facility in Virginia for a couple weeks. luckily I don't have to go through boston but I will have to go through either north eastern NY, Western MA, or pretty much all of NH to get home.

hang in there new england and get those roads cleared.

At least I'm driving a beast. 2005 f250 super duty 4x4 and I've even got a nice set of brand new snow cables. I've never in my life had to use chains or cables.

Unless you are living In the higher elevations of VT, you should be ok. When I lived in Brandon , it wasn't so bad. When I lived near sugar bush....well whole different story when it came to snow and need for chains!

Jonathan, unless there's an actual storm while driving your only problem should be snow removal at your destination. Main and secondary roads are fine. Just don't try to go into a city up here with that rig, the roads are getting narrow.
Don't let the bastards cheer you up.

The roads are cleared...for now that is. We are expecting a blizzard Saturday with another foot of snow. If you get stuck in SE Mass., stop in for a snifter of my imperial red IPA.  ;)

I might do a small batch of Mild or Bitter, but as much in the kitchen as possible.

Yeah, that's what I'm doing these days, too. It beats not brewing at all.

yeah, final destination is half way up mansfield. But I will be dropping the camper off before I do that particular climb.

I'll keep that in mind. might be just the thing.

Mort, keep us posted on the trip progress. Have you had some La Cumbre?

I didn't get to La Cumbre after all. it was tough call but after 8 hours in the truck with a 4 year old that didn't want to be there I was spent. finally had a decent local beer last night though, Rahr and sons ugly pug. not a bad black lager at all. I also got to have a bells christmas ale at the grand canyon apparently because Larry Bell has property in arizona and likes his own beer better than anything else he can get there. My win I guess. The Grand Canyon village market plaza has a fantastic beer selection by the way.

All was going fairly well if a bit "are we there yet" filled until today when the truck wouldn't start up again after refueling at the Grand Casino travel center in Shawnee OK. Two dead batteries and a dead alternator. Got a jump from AAA and lucked into a heck of a good diesel mechanic who swapped out the batteries and alternator in about 2.5 hours on no notice on a Friday afternoon. If you find yourself in central Oklahoma in need of a good diesel mechanic search out Day's Diesel. We called it a day and I'm now sitting in our cozy little camper at the Heart Of Oklahoma expo RV park. I think I finally understand the appeal of the RV lifestyle, where ever you find yourself, you're right at home!

Couple more days and I'm hoping to sit down to a beer with our own majorvices.

supposed to be back to work Tuesday, not sure that's going to happen but we will see. I figure Wednesday or Thursday is feasible though.

Mort - Larry Bell is a lifelong Chicago Cubs diehard fan. He went to every home game at Wrigley Field this year. If you know anything about baseball, you will know the Cubs have spring training in the Cactus League, which of course plays in AZ. You can connect the dots.
