Six row can also be used in making some old recipes like Ballantine IPA clones and many recipes out of "the Homebrewer's Guide to Vintage Beer" by Ron Pattinson.
Jeff, I have seen you post about Ballantine before, is your recipe similar to the recipe in Steele's IPA book?

Well, you can say it was similar, but it is different. I might have to post what I have been doing tomorrow.

I actually helped in brewing a 7 bbl batch of it at Arbor Brewing in Ann Arbor. It was a hit, and sold well as it was different, hoppy in different way, and more-ish.

I still haven't seen the 'new' Ballantine in liquor stores yet. Hope to find some soon.

Jon, I haven't found it either yet. I have checked all over the tri state area: Indiana, Ohio, and Kentucky.  Must still just be east coast distribution

Fermenting: Nothing (ugh!)
Conditioning: Nothing (UGH!)
In keg: Nothing (Double UGH!)
In the works:  House IPA, Dark Mild, Ballantine Ale clone(still trying to work this one into the schedule)

I'll look out for that recipe Jeff. It's a brew I want to plan on trying out this year

Yeah, I thought I'd read it would be widely distributed. Maybe wishful thinking.

Thanks again Jeff, I like the simplicity of the grist and am eager to give it a go
