Flaked Unmalted Wheat in Extract Recipe?
« on: February 02, 2015, 11:18:56 am »
I'm looking to brew a Witbier for springtime and have an extract setup. One recipe that I have found and really like is set up for all grain and calls for 4.5 lbs of flaked unmalted wheat. While converting two row grains to extract is easy enough, I have no idea how to do the same for flaked wheat or if it is even possible to do with the same (or close to the same) results as the all grain version. Any thoughts?

Thanks!

You will need to do a mash with grain to convert the starches in the wheat. 2 lbs mash at 150 for 30-45 minutes should do it.
