Looking for German brewed German Pilsners. Any recommendations? Almost picked up some Bitburger just because I had heard of it...no idea if it's supposed to be good.

Bitburger's not bad...it's my go to, cheap summer beer.  My favorite German pils, by a long shot, is Trumer.

+1 on trumer.....one of the best German pils.. I would have mentioned it but OP said he wanted German brewed.

Is this one you guys can find in your area now ?  I've never seen it.  I'll definitely be looking if so.

Not seen it in stores here. Chicago, Denver and Portland trips I can find it.

Cool. Being fairly close to Chicago, I'll keep an eye out. Thanks.

It is German brewed.  The brewery in Berkeley opened long after the German brewery.

its really good stuff.

There's also Heisenberg Pils-made from the finest German pilsner and light munich malts. Bittering and aroma hops with Perle and Select Spalt . The finest German Lager yeast, makes this authentic crisp German Pilsner a crowd favorite. 38 IBU, 5.8%abv. (end of shameless plug  8) )

i wasnt sure if you were consuming the CA production or Austrian....I know the Berkeley is likely the one he can find;not sure about Austrian import availability.

Some that I have had in the Vaterland. Some are imported.
Radeberger us ok, from the former east.
St. Pauli isn't even found in Germany.
Becks, Warsteiner, Bitburger, Oettigner, Krombacher, Hasseroeder, Binding, Veltins are all Fernseherbiers (Fernseher means far seer, similar to television) and those are viewed as the equivalent of BMC beers in Germany.
Wernesgruener is pretty good for the price at Aldis. Can find it at Aldis in the US.
Kulmbacher was OK.
Mahr's Pils is very good, imported sometimes. Kessmann is also very good, but I don't know if it leaves Bamberg.
Wuerzburger Pils is very good when I have had it.
Spaten and Paulaner are good in the softer Southern Bavarian style.
Jever and Flensburger are more assertive Northern German examples. Koernig sort of fits in there, and was a favorite when fresh.
Alpirsbacher was very good, don't know if imported.
Plank in Bavaria makes a nice pils, imported sometimes.
There are many more that I can't remember.

Trumer is brewed in Austria, just outside of Salzberg. The Berkley brewery is a partnership between Trumer and Gambrinus.
