Barons Priming Sugar
« on: February 16, 2015, 07:51:43 pm »
I have two Barons kits on the go and they come with 200g of Dextrose priming sugar. I have read that you need 5.881 grams per litre so for 6 gal (22.7L) that equals 133g of priming sugar. Why would they give 200g and should I use it all or measure out the 133g?

At 2.2 CO2, 68 f, and 6 gal, it said 124g dextrose. This is way below 200g so why on earth would they give so much? Most people would just plunk the whole amount in.

Maybe because they don't package 124 gram packages?

Maybe it's not priming sugar.  Maybe it's intended to be part of the fermentation.  Ever heard the term "kit & kilo"?  Not exactly a kilo here but a little something.

Good theory on it maybe being part of the fermentation but here is a copy of the instructions. Even their "regular" carbing says to use 175g. Still puzzling high unless there is something really different with their wort.
