bulk rhizome purchase.
« on: February 27, 2015, 01:29:00 PM »
Where can I go to buy 500 rhizomes at a very good price? There are hundreds of places to buy rhizomes at retail on the internet but where do you go to get a good wholesale price?

I had heard there is a percieved shortage with all the folks who want to start planting....

The Thyme Garden has pretty good deals on 100 bundles.  Excellent quality.

I wasn't sure if the Thyme Garden sold bulk or not. They have the best rhizomes that I've found.

Great Lakes Hops is great and they sell bulk but they sell actual plants, not bare root rhizomes. Quality is excellent and your new plantings are further along than just a rhizome although its a more expensive product

Great Lakes Hops charges commercial customers a fraction of the retail price per plant.

True but I believe they are still more than a basic rhizome.

Thyme Garden sells both regular rhizomes and rooted cuttings. I believe Great Lakes sells rhizomes and second year plants that are rhizomes planted and grown through a year.

Great Lakes does not sell rhizomes.  They sell whole crowns and field-grade plants. Lynn Kemme runs a clean plant program (see http://nationalcleanplantnetwork.org/HOPS_CPN/).  Lynn's goal is to sell plants that are free from performance limiting hop viruses.
