So I'm here. I missed the Braun beer as they tapped the doppelbock on Wednesday,  but I am stuck with tiny little half liter glasses as they won't serve the 8% doppelbock in full liters! I know I read in here somewhere that in Munich, the half litres are only for women and children. I guess they did not hear that here

I guess 8% must be the liter cutoff, Frank. I was getting Maibock in liters a year ago. It was just under. Anyway, enjoy!

awesome, huh? heading down to ours in Cleveland sunday for the dopplebock..we'll see if they restrict the liter there!

Yes it was great, had 2 half litres of the doppelbock  and finished with a litres of dunkel. All went really well with the Bavarian Jager schnitzel, as well as the pretzels and kraft ball appetizers

Mine ended up in shards when my backpack was delivered a week later by the airline, but that was in 1973 so I'm pretty much recovered by now.

Well, a half-liter is a bit more than a pint...so for an 8% brew, I'd say that's a fairly healthy serving.   It'll 'get you there'   
Hell...my 'local' won't serve any hi-test brew in anything larger than an 8 oz serving in a wine glass.

these laws are just archaic. as if forcing me to order by the 1/2L vs 1L does anything to keep me from consuming  the same amount.

Exactlu, but it is responsible service. At least that's the argument they can make if there is ever an issue
