Yes. Some questions seem simple or silly. I've answered the same questions numerous times. But once upon a time, I had those same questions, and somebody took the time to answer them for me... Probably not the first time they answered them either. It's a great place to pay it forward if you hang out here long enough.

All of this outpouring of emotion is making me weepy, I need a beer...

my wife often reminds me that men are humans with emotions also....even if we don't want to  ::)

Obviously she's wrong.... But that's something that we won't admit either  :P

well of course she's wrong (whispering quietly so not to be overheard)...that's my story and I'm sticking with it!

Wait, we're human?
Some would say we tend to get a bit emotional about our beer but that's a whole other topic:)

My biggest pet peeve is "this has been asked before...search the forum before asking the same question again"  While it is good advice, sometimes the search functions don't provide the results you are looking for.

And it truly hate the "LMGTFY" posts...You go to all the effort to type the search into this website, then post the link on a forum to basically call people lazy.

Bottom line:  Rule #1 of the Brewer's Code - Don't be a dick!

I don't mind a little good nature razzing.....its what we do sometimes. I did chuckle when i got the LMGTFY- it wasn't meant to be mean in that case.
I know I am a rookie brewer but I now feel really stupid for having to google LMGTFY! Doh!

I had to think about it for awhile to remember what it stood for.  I've done that to someone once and it wasn't on this forum.  He was full time, paid, computer geek just like me and kept asking questions that would all be answered if he just bothered to do a search himself.  Everyone else on the thread thought it was hilarious.  Him, not so much.   :-\

Paul

What? You can google these things?

The potential for uncivil responses rises for users that have avatars that are not attached to their actual identity. I've suggested that users be a little more open and put "themselves" out there personally so that your fellow user gets to know you and who you are. All it takes is a little extra info on your signature line.

A bit of a forum joke. Not to be taken literally.

But Martin, I actually am a crazy, cartoon rabbit with an obsession for tea parties.   ;)

Anonymity does give many people a feeling of power.  Lucky for all you folks I've been both married and an IT employee of a major financial institution long enough to know I have no power over anything.   8)

And I do work out like crazy to not appear like Fred Flintstone, but............there are some general similarities.   ;D

In all seriousness, I find this place like home unlike the other forums. While I've never met any of the regular and frequent members of this forum I've exchanged many pms and have recievd great answers to my questions. I also feel as though I've helped a few along the way as well.

Its a friendly place with friendly people, members sign their names sometimes and you don't get belittled. Threads can get derailed sometimes but its all in fun and you're not threatened for doing so or made to feel like an idiot if you don't know something.

I'm not saying the other forums don't bring value, its just that this one is a more friendly place overall!
