SS Brewtech kettles?
« on: January 17, 2015, 04:11:38 pm »
Can't seem to find many reviews on these, does anyone have an SS Brewtech kettle? If so, how are you liking it, pros & cons, etc.

Thanks!

There are too many nice all-welded fitting kettles around to spend good money on weld-less fitting kettles.

I like my weldless fitting kettles as I can modify and customize them myself to suit my evolving brewing setup.

There's no arguing that weld-less fittings are DIY fittings.   However, there's no excuse for using them on a production kettle, regardless of what Blichmann claims.  Blichmann uses them because it lowers production cost and waste.  TIG welding thin stainless steel is a skilled task.  Producing beautiful TIG welds on thin stainless is an art form.

No argument here on the skill set required to TIG weld stainless.  It just doesn't mean anything to me to have a valve welded in place on a kettle that I'm later going to be drilling holes in and installing additional valves, heating elements and temperature probes.  I've had 0 leaks from my weldless fittings and since it is all hot side, 0 contamination concerns as well.
