Came across this interesting device on another but non-beer forum: Meld

Looks like it would work for some small-scale stovetop step mashing?

Pretty neat idea, but I see one big issue with gas stoves. What if the knob goes too low and kills the flame and then turns it back on without kicking on the starter?


The bearded guy reminds me of Kevin from the Office (US).

Evidently the device senses that and shuts'er down. Will work on electric with knobs as well.

I think it's pretty cool but not sure how well it would work for a mash.  Since the mash is generally sort of thick I think without having it stirred you will find the bottom to be much warmer than the top.
