By the way there are 8 of us already after only 3 hours. This should be fun. If it works out we'll try it again in the Fall.

Review,  don't judge. And the beer stands alone. Don't ding it for not following BJCP guidelines. Frankly, the beer I plan to send is a style not found in the 08 guidelines.
I'm certainly not from the "look for a reason to fail" school of judging.  I'm just used to it by this point, and if I get a beer that claims to be from a certain style, I'm going to 'judge' it as such and make comments from that perspective.  I will think of the overall impression section to mention hedonistic enjoyment, just like I do in judging (and face-to-face comments).

AFAIC no problem-as long as you don't care some of us don't know how to do that  ;D

Edit: im willing to learn if someone posts and example.
Well, I'm certainly not going to 'judge' you if you post reviews from a purely hedonistic standpoint.  ;)  I'm just always trying to hone my scoresheet skills, so just wanting to make sure that it wouldn't upset the apple cart to use that format.

Maybe I should say lightly hoppy and more hoppy.   Per the above.

BTW, whats the standard for beer descriptions? typical like style, OG, FG and ABV?
No standards. Up to you. Anything from, for example, summer beer, to a full description with recipe and methods. Your deal. Whatever you want your reviewer to know.

I like Jim's standard of being handed a beer at a BBQ. In other words don't say something you wouldn't say to someone's face. OTOH I'm not sure if saying something to someone's face is all that inhibiting to Jim. ;-)

It depends. Normally it takes a pretty strong gust of stupidity to ruffle my feathers.

As far as describing the beer you are sending, give the taster something to go on. That can be a descriptive title (Bill's Barnyard Brown) or a style (APA) or you can give as much info as you want, like full stats, recipe, photos of your brewery, etc. Whatever tickles your fancy.

As far as the review you post, type in the brewers forum name, which beer they sent, and then try to describe the beer as best you can and score it with the 1-5 system. Dont be rude is all I expect. Its not a test of reviewing skills, so just chill and have fun with it. If the brewer has comments back, post away, but lets avoid any arguments.

We have 11 participants so far! There were a two or three who said they'd be interested on the original thread that I havent gotten an email from yet.

I got a request for shipping tips. I'll post something on that when the time comes.

I was also asked if Mead and Cider were allowed. I say you bet, why not.

Man I would love to have someone review one of the two mead's i have fermenting however im not liking what they taste like so far so i wont be submitting those on this go around. I hope they turn out as good asmy first two attempts but im only 2 month or so in.  I am looking forward to hearing an honest review of my beer. I want to hear someone really review my stuff other than "wow you brewed this it's great"
