NHC- Anyone bringing the fam?
« on: March 04, 2015, 09:44:00 pm »
Hi everyone!  My super-rad wife agreed to plan our summer vacation around the NHC this year!  I would like to know if anyone else is planning on having kids come along (of course not to beer events), since San Diego is pretty family friendly.

I guess I ask because I wonder if anyone will give me the stink-eye for having a 4 year old at the Hotel...

No one will give you the stink eye for having a 4 year old. Remember most dedicated homebrewers fall into the "slightly nerdy married white guy between the ages of 25-45" which translates to prime kid years. The usual caveats apply, of course, in terms of where the kids are allowed to be (e.g. the actual conference itself which is 21+)

I see I am outside of home brewer demographic. Time to quit home brewing.

I am too, Leos. Guess I'll be a rebel and keep brewing. Cheers to being an old fart.  ;)

I fell within the homebrew demography when I started brewing, now I'm nearly 20 years too old. Guess that makes us young for or age. Here's to 60, the new 30!!

See you guys in SD.

Ok we need an old fart meetup then. No kiddos here either, but starting to age out of that demographic anyway. Not that I have anything against kids...

Well, I meet 3 of the 5 criteria: no kids, not married, but I still love to brew. Thanks every day to SWMBO for pushing(allowing) me into it.  8)

I can't imagine anyone being concerend over kids at the hotel... even a little bit...

That said.. I fall in the demographic age range...but not kids and not married.. Though the girlfriend is a homebrewer and beer judge as well... so beer related activities are not frowned upon for me...

At the hotel?  Hell no.  At the bar, maybe.  I would definitely have brought the family (although my daughter is 15) were my wife not going to be working on her dissertation.

Wonderful input, thanks guys!  Also, I started under the demographic (21), but am now firmly entrenched in the demographic (34).  I went to the conference in Philly, but we had a babysitter then.  See you all then!  Also, if someone is taking a roadtrip to White labs, I'm a really fun Co-Pilot!
