Direction of Keg Lid

Is there a correct direction for a keg lid? I see mine is raised one direction either way I secure it. Does this look right?

Looks good to me.  If it seats well and holds pressure then you are all good to go.  You can test the pressure by gassing it then pulling the pressure relief valve (prv - little ring).  If you hear a pffffftttt then that is good.  Don't be afraid to add a small bit of keg lube to your large O-ring to help the seal.

I have one lid and keg combo that only fit one way, but normally it shouldn't matter

looks fine. sometimes you can shift it around a little before you put it on pressure to get it more even.

I got in the habit of marking the direction of my lids creating a sort of key. Once I replace the O-rings, it gets scrubbed off - seems like once I got good at using the right amount of lube, replacing the older hardened O-rings, the need went away to key them.

+1.  I did a bulk buy on ball locks a long time ago, and every one of them has a lid that only fits one way.
