American Lite Lager!!!
« on: May 13, 2015, 07:01:03 pm »
Hey guys brewed an 1 Gal experimental Lite Lager for my father who as i have stated in other posts does not craft beer that much. I based the grain bill off the BJCP guidelines.
Grain Bill:
-Flaked Maize .6lbs
-Briess 2-row .4lbs
-Pilsner Malt .4lbs
-Carafoam .1lbs
-Mt. Hood .2oz(.1oz at 45min and .1oz at 10min)
-Saflager S-23 at ~52F
Stats:
OG: 1.039
FG: 1.008
IBU: 11.348
SRM: 3.8
ABV: 4%

Its in bottles now and is looking pretty clear smelled great during bottling can't wait to try!
A fine beer may be judged with only one sip, but it's better to be thoroughly sure.
Kegged/Bottled: N/A
Coming up:
SMaSH Rye Pale Ale
Chocolate Rye Stout
Milk Stout

S. cerevisiae

I brew Pro-Prohibition Pilsner (Pre-Pro Pils) for my non-craft beer drinking family members. Pre-Pro Pils is light enough for the BMC crowd and tasty enough for the craft beer crowd.  My usual grist is 20% maize/80% American 2-row.  My hop of choice for Pro-Pro Pils is Liberty.

If it's good, why not a big batch? You can always do hop trials w/ the leftovers

Well I haven't done anything like it before plus I had those grains kicking around and wanted to use them up. If it does turn out pretty well then I definitely will do a large batch.

Good deal!  Don't forget the Clamato juice, to make your father-in-law a red beer.

Mark, what yeast are you using when you make this? Something we can find commercially or something a little more special from your bank?
