Munich/ Melanoiden

I believe Melanoidin is more on par with Aromatic malt than basic Munich.

Carapils/ Pilsner

Carapils aka Dextrin malt is a light caramel malt. Pilsner is a base malt.

"Medium Crystal"/ Crystal 40

Depending on how medium is defined here, these would probably be close.

Munich/ Melanoiden - I have heard some people refer to melanoiden as 'super munich' however this is not a base malt. As Derek noted, it is on par with Aromatic

Carapils/ Pilsner - carapils is very light caramel malt by Briess I believe. It is not a base malt and is apparently used to increase body and head retention without adding much color

Medium crystal is usually English medium crystal which tends to be 50-60L more akin to domestic crystal 60.

I've always seen medium crystal as ~45L

If it's UK crystal, Simpsons is 50-60L and Fawcett is a bit darker than that (60-70L IIRC)
