I'm unsure. I use the hand crank FWIW.

Upon furthering inspection, I did get some additional flecks picked up from the rollers. Also, when I pulled the mill off the mill base, I saw a lot of metal flecks there. I'm not sure where these are coming from as they in a strange spot.

My only thought is the sides of the rollers are rubbing on the frame.

Or perhaps the bottom of the hopper?

I gave up hand cranking that bad boy a long long time ago. I do try to use as low of a RPM as possible.

You'd think one would hear it if it was binding or the rollers were striking the hopper. Suspicion is that you got a bad mill. Unfortunately.

The BC comes completely apart. Easily. Too late now (if you have sent it) but the mill disassembled might have revealed whether the rollers were rubbing the frame or given some other indication.

The metal pieces in your photos look like knurling chaff.  The knurling process usually leaves behind little pieces of loosely attached metal chaff.  The first that I do when I purchase a new mill is take a handheld steel wire brush to the rollers to remove any chaff that may be left over from the knurling process.

I am sure I'm way over analyzing the picture but it looks like the base may have not been mounted straight.  One side seems narrower than the other (might be a camera trick?) and that would cause binding.

$25 for shipping seems high too.  Maybe I got lucky but I don't recall having to spend that much.

I hope it all works out well for you once past the troubles.

Where the heck are we going?  And what's with this hand basket?
