Infection question
« on: July 05, 2015, 01:26:03 pm »
I recently put a 5 gal corney of my Scottish wee heavy in the kegarator. I pulled maybe 5 or 6 pints from it over a few weeks and then had a friend buy a kegarator and needing ball lock fittings. I pulled the fittings off mine as I had new ones coming in the mail the next day anyways. I hooked up the keg and pulled a nasty pint out. It went from my best beer to undrinkable.  It had a sour, almost chemically taste, like some sort of cleaner and had a curious foam. I figured it was infection from leaving the lines dirty for that day. The next day I pulled out the lines and did a deep clean. I am confident I cleaned them well, but I am still getting off sour flavored, though not nearly as bad. Can infected lines spoil a keg, or is the line pressure enough to keep the infection in the lines?
