When I click on "Unread" to see all the new posts since my last login, I often see 15-25 posts.
Sometimes I get too busy writing a reply to one of the first few that I open or have to log out due to time or family or work reasons and I don't get around to reading all the posts.
When I log back in--those posts that I did not get a chance to read do not remain on the "unread" list.  Why is that?

It is a pain to have to hunt around all the different sections for anything marked "new" to find what I missed out on.

I think it's because once you click on "unread" it marks them read, so when you come back it thinks you've read them.  I agree it's a PITA, but I haven't found any settings that will change it.  Maybe once we upgrade to a new version of the software....I hope!

I just jumped off and back on again. My unreads remain there. I am using Firefox.
I usually need to click mark all as read to clear all the subjects.
I also never timeout my session, I stay logged in and have Firefox remember the user/pwd for the site.

I'm set up exactly the same way, so maybe I'm misremembering what happens.

I too periodically see that happen and cannot id a cause (yet)

There seems to be some Gremlin.  I just read everything in my "Unread Topics" posts, & when I went back to to the "Index" there were several that I hadn't read there (even after a refresh).  I'm also on firefox.

In looking at it closely.  I didn't finish everything "unread" last night, but the items that I didn't read then, do not appear when I go to the "unread topics" today even though they remain "unread" on the Index page.
