RIS recipe - slight changes from the original
« on: November 14, 2015, 06:57:48 am »
Batch = 5.5 gal
OG = 1.083
60 minute mash @ 150

16 lb Maris Otter
1 lb C75L
1 lb 8 oz Roasted Barley
1 lb Chocolate Malt
4 oz Special B

60 minute 1.5 oz Nugget
10 minute 1.5 oz Cascade & 1.5 oz Willamette

WLP 028 Edinburg Ale Yeast

Well, this didn't go as planned. This was originally supposed to be a double batch with 5 gal fermented with WLP 013 London ale (my original recipe yeast) and the other half with 028. Since I had been out of the game for awhile, I lost track of what grains I had on hand. Yep, 5 lbs of 2 row, which was supposed to be the base grain. I had about 20 lbs of Maris Otter on hand. So I'm going with this. The 028 expires sooner so I'm going with that.

I need some Black Friday grain sales to pop up! Label Peelers shouldn't let me down!

How many IBU's overall are you shooting for?

I don't shoot for IBUs since everybody's perception of bitterness is different. I just put in what I feel will be right. I suppose this would be 60-70.

1.5 oz of nugget is my typical buttering unit in my imperial stouts.
