Yesterday at noon the visibility here was 10 mi.  By 5 PM it was down to 2.  Today is even worse...looks like dusk at 10 AM.

Today's pretty good, but we had a couple days last week when I couldn't see the mountains from my house in town. That's about 7 mi.

And here in Florida we've been getting abnormal amounts of rain.  I wish we could send some out west for you guys.

Worst here was the other day when we couldn't see past 100 yards. It was like a foggy day at the beach but more orange and made your eyes sting

Here the smoke is visible but not pervasive.  The mountains are usually clearly visible on sunny days, but the last couple of weeks have seen sort of a persistent hazy background.

I'm flying into Spokane in the morning with the family and driving to Missoula.

Looks like it could be a smoky vacation.  Quite different than what we experience here in Chicago.
