Cat proofing faucets
« on: August 31, 2015, 08:28:44 pm »
I am finally upgrading from picnic taps to perlicks. My cat likes to sleep on top of the keezer, and while mostly sweet, he is a bit of an a-hole and not to be trusted. I'm looking for ideas on how to keep the faucets from being knocked or pulled open by said a-hole cat.

I want it to be an easy solution and not make the keezer look horrible. My buddy just finished the awesome collar, and I don't want to ruin his great work.

I have already determined that I will forever use short tap handles and removing the handles might work well enough.

My best thought is a dowel across the handles attached to some eye hooks on the back of the keezer. I want to attach them to the back to keep the front looking nice. To attach to the eye hooks, I'm thinking some strong cording with a couple of strong pull springs.

You could buy tap locks.

You could buy tap locks.
Thought about that, but I have two issues there.

1 - can't find locks for the newer perlicks
2 - expensive, but I'm sure it's cheaper than replacing flooring.

Edit - maybe I can fashion something out of a u-bolt that functions like the lock. It looks like they simply hook onto the little notch on the back of the faucet.

Just thought of something... I'm going with perlick 650ss faucets. Does the flow control work as a shut off?
