Pale chocolate malt
«

Hello, I use pale chocolate malt in my stout recipe (10% of grain bill). For some reason pale chocolate malt are not available in our country at the moment.
Any credible work arounds / substitutes?

It may sounds strange but I would suggest chocolate rye

Pale Chocolate is kind of like brown malt to me. If you can't find that post the recipe and we can try to find a suitable sub.

Its not an exact match, but if you can get your hands on Kiln Coffee malt that is probably the closest option I can think of.

+1
I use chocolate rye in my porters and it is a really good malt. It is not as bitter as some of the chocolate malts.

I was thinking coffee malt, Swaen/blackswaen malting makes a great one, or brown malt which wouldn’t be exactly the same but similar.
