officially on pause
« on: September 12, 2015, 04:26:51 PM »
well today's Munich Dunkel concludes my brewing until November likely. I have 50 gallons from fermentation to kegged.

not to mention the cider and wine  :o

perhaps Oktoberfest party will help clear some space for mid to end October commencement of brewing!

That's a hell of a problem - too much beer.

Rough stuff Ken. I am double batching today to try to get more in the pipeline. Down to just a 12er or so of my pilsner left.  Been too lazy to get my saison bottled, will need to do in next couple days or am going to run out

I know the problem, Ken.  I brewed to get ahead and clear room to judge and now I got serious racking to get done....which will free up fermenters for more brewing.  Storage becomes the biggest issue with more kegs!

I just organized and counted my beer, cider and wine today..... 3 cases in the fridge, and on the shelf I have 3 cases of cider, 1/2 case of wine, and 3.5 cases of beer.  I won't be brewing or buying anything for a few months, except I need to make cider next month during harvest time but that's all.  Oh yeah... and I'm on call for work for the next 1.5 weeks and can't drink a drop.  I'm again starting to hate my place of employment.

Nice work, Ken. I'm working to get ahead now, but I'm nowhere near 50 gals accounted for. I normally brew harder in the cold months because my family has fewer activities then. It's a good feeling to get ahead enough to take a break.  Of course 3 or 4 weeks later I'm dying to brew something, regardless of how much is in the pipeline. Good thing for the neighbors and friends  ;)

i'm usually the same way Jon- just got the bug this summer and haven't stopped.  i've been known to invite some folks over to crush some kegs just so I have reason to brew  ;)

Yep, and a few of those 'keg killer' parties wiped out more than I intended in years past. I'm a little more careful now.  ;D

Way to go Ken.  I am rebuilding after a visit from the family in August that wiped me out.  My local friends are a little high and dry at the moment.  It's that time of year and jugged a couple of fresh hop beers today.
Run then beer.

I have the opposite problem. Life has been such that I have had no time to brew or do any other things I like to do really  since April so no beer here. I do have 1 gallon of year old peach bretted saison and a couple hundred gallons of mead to bottle.
Don't let the bastards cheer you up.

That is a lot of mead.  I am almost out of mead and might just make some of that and cider this fall.  It keeps so well and I will bottle the mead, so it won't be a storage issue (just a carboy that won't be available for my sours).

I've hit the point in summer that my reserves start getting low and our Oktoberfest is coming up in a couple of weeks.  I always shutdown the brewery for summer due to the heat and ground water temps.

That said, I brewed 2 beers last month and 2 beers yesterday.  So my stocks going into Oktoberfest are 15 gallons ready in the storage cabinet and, hopefully, 9-12 gallons in the kegerator. With 10 more gallons still in fermenters.

It's looking like a smaller crowd this year so we should okay.

Not sure at this point how much I will have to cut back on this hobby for the next year though.  I had to replace my old truck last week which was not really in the plan.  Some serious budget review going on at the moment.   :-\

I have enough grain and hops to fill all my kegs so that's a good thing and the new truck is beautiful.   :)
