I've donated Pliny at local auctions where it went for $100 a bottle.

Crazy.

But, I'm also the guy who dropped a hundred to get some Dark Lord and two other barrel aged 3 Floyds beers.  I have no idea what the other two are.  One was a collaboration with the Bruery.  Didn't care for it.  The DL and whatever else are cellared.

Mikes  five blast smash with wlp575 Belgian blend....comments pending.

great 2 finger head that dissipates in about 5 minutes to foam cap and nice lacing. light yellow hazy, with mostly citrus with slight floral aroma. first taste is all about the yeast....Belgian traits dominate as expected. light body, citrus up front with excellent dry crisp and appropriate bitterness in the finish.  this is a super easy drinking beer. quenches thirst and begs to be continuously sipped. great Job Mike- this is a crowd favorite beer for sure.

And Mike, here's a pic of the all base Marzen. Pilsner, Munich II, and Vienna. A little light, but that was the point. Very reminiscent of spate ofest, just a little drier and a little lighter in color. This is the first bottle, all carbed up but really has not been lagered at all. The rest will go into the chest freezer this weekend for a bit

A very generous and interesting assortment just arrived all the way from RI! Thanks Eric (erockrph) I am chilling them now. Going to give them a day or two to recuperate,  then take my sweet time.

Glad you got them in good shape. Enjoy!

Ken, I really appreciate the feedback, thank you.  In terms of homebrewing, this is my most simple beer, it let's me know if I'm on target in process and recipe construction.  In particular it's the influence of this forum to get the water chemistry right (tip of the hat to Martin B.).

Frank, I sent this to you as well.

Ok, more excellent beer from Wort-HOG to review. First of the night is his O-Fest. It pours an absolutely crystal clear deep orange/amber. Gorgeous color. Foam is thick, holding a solid two fingers for 5 minutes, then falls to a persistent one finger. Aroma is malty, toasty, bready. Flavor follows the aroma perfectly, and body is a well attenuated medium/light. Caramunich/caravienne character is minimal if at all (read: zero cloying sweetness). The malt character of this beer reminds me of SN's new Oktoberfest, minus the hop character which pushed the envelope for the style (though I loved it). This is just a great Ofest, the kind you want to crush liters of. Really well done, Ken. Thanks ! More to come.......
