Shipped Yeast Got Warm
« on: October 15, 2015, 07:53:15 pm »
My Vermont Ale strain arrived at 84F. I don't think it was warmer than that, if any, maybe a degree or two.

How bad is 84F for yeast?

S. cerevisiae

Your yeast will be okay.  Ale yeast will replicate up to the temperature of the human body.

Thank you Mark. For a 1.070 beer what is your shaken not stirred starter size?

1L into a 4L container or 1.25L into a 5L container. That should get you between ~200-250*109 cells.
