sunday, a day of brew
« on: November 15, 2009, 03:17:57 pm »
just warming up the water for my next brew of the day here; NB's three hearted ale.

i started this morning with their patersbier and have high hopes for that one, as it comes with many good reviews. these two beers are my first attempts at making starters and i believe that i will try to "ranch" the yeast when they come off of the cake here in a couple weeks.

the next brew lined up is NB's #8, gonna be my first high O.G. @ 1.084!

cheers,
darth

The Bock I did monday was a double decoction and that runoff was slow as hell too.   never have that problem unless its a decoction.

Decoction isnt the issue, at least not on this end.
Run-off from my last few batches have been slow.
Going to check the mill gap first as the crush looked finer than normal today.

GO PATRIOTS INDEED!
I'll be aerating around kick-off

I need to try NB's Three Hearted.  Patersbier has me intrigued as well.  I can say that after a month and a half in the bottle, The Number 8 is very good.  I imagine that it will only get better with time, so I plan to crack the next bottle (or two) open on New Years Eve.
