Halloween beers tonight?
« on: October 31, 2015, 03:35:17 pm »
Anyone drinking anything "Halloween"esque tonight?  I have a Southern Tier Pumking in the fridge awaiting for the children to be nestled in their beds.  Haven't had this years yet, and hoping it is better than last year.

Cheers-

No pumpkin beers, but I have a nice IPA, stout, and newly tapped Scottish 80 and Belgian Blond on tap now. Works for me .    ;)

The Pumking is a damn fine beer. Really tastes great. Southern Tier is putting, out solid beers. They aren't very far from me either.

Nothing pumpkinesque,  bit I did spend this afternoon at a double IPA festival. Tons of great beer there from across the country

Just opened a wee heavy that's getting just a wee scary--eleven months old (and the cellar got a bit too warm this summer, maybe). But my little trick-or-treaters are abed, the doorbell has stopped ringing, and so it's mighty fine.

My buddy brought along a cooler of brews, so I didn't have much of a choice. I had some Yuengling Black & Tan and some Sammy Rebel Rider Session IPA. Good enough for trick or treating roadies, but nothing to write home about. I sent him home with a few more of my IPA's, since he was raving about the first sample I gave him. Better to have a friend drink them fresh than have them sit around too long in my cellar.

Working on some pumpkin altbier homebrew. I reduced the spice amounts this year and it couldn't have turned out better. Don't think the wife loves it for the same reason.
On Tap/Bottled: IPL, Adjunct Vienna, Golden Stout, Honey Lager
Fermenting: IPA
Up Next: mexi lager, Germerican pale ale

The closest I got was an Angry Orchard Cinnful Apple Cider, but I've been fighting a cold all week and wasn't going to break out any good stuff if I couldn't taste it.

I didn't have anything holiday apropriate per say but had plenty of good beer on hand. Had a nice party at my sister in laws, took the kids out for a bit and then all of us sat out by a fire long into the night. I brought with me a 6 pack of Union Jack, Revolution Anti-Hero IPA, Goose Island Honkers Ale and for the wife some Goose Island 312 and some Breakfast Stout that she never did drink.

The Anti-Hero was much more bitter than I remembered and that came back home with me.

I had some Ballast point cream ale with vanilla and coffee. It had a skeleton on the can for some reason. I think that counts.

I popped open a Jolly Pumpkin La Parcela (sour amber ale with pumpkin) with my wife. That was as far as we got with holiday-ish beers.

I popped the tops on Shock Tops Pumpkin Wheat, and Schlafly's Pumpkin Ale.  Some pretty good beers, the wheat was a touch too sweet with the pumpkin and needed a little spice for balance.  The schlafly's pumpkin ale is really like my mothers pumpkin pie, but got me drunk, so better... sorry mom.
