My grocery store is like the UN...
« on: November 10, 2015, 07:23:20 PM »
... every nationality and culture is represented here.  Everyday Americans, black, white, Asian, Hispanic, lots and lots of eastern Europeans and Russians live in my neighborhood.  If you're looking for an item or ingredient that is a little off-the-map and hard to find, this is your place.  Anyway, I went there today and when I get out to the lot there are two guys standing behind my car (a 2011 Mustang convertible) smoking, talking and pointing to my car.  I hit the trunk release to load my stuff and they reacted, looked up at me and said, "Dis is nise, vatt is this Fart Moostink?".  I looked at one of them for a second and then the other.  I said, "Yes, Fart Moostink" and off they went smoking and talking some more.  Lulz, lulz, lulz at the grocery store.

Wow, that was too far for me!  I ran that by in my head before I posted and thought 'nah, that can't be it.'

It took me a bit to figure out what that meant as well. Absolutely hilarious, after I figured it out. Btw, would be a great name for a beer.

It would. Something you can make cheaply and get to the taps quickly. Like a light APA.

I should mention that in our fragile, politically-correct world... I meant no offense in my post and Russians and or eastern Europeans should not take issue with what I said.  I talk with a lot of brewers and foodies who embrace our diversity mainly because it makes life more delicious!  Going to this store makes me feel like I'm on vacation out of the country because almost everyone in the store has an accent of some type and a lot of customers are speaking in their native language.  So it's truly the UN of grocery shopping!  Cheers.

Back in my twenties I worked with a guy who was a Russian immigrant.  Great guy-  we got along great.
Vlad was a short guy, dark hair, kinda round, with a sort of a low raspy voice and a very, very thick Russian accent.

One day, we were in the kitchen, and one of the other guys in the office said,
"Hey, Vlad - say "Moose and Squirrel".

We couldn't stop laughing-  It was like Boris Badinoff was in the room talking to us.
We had to explain why we were all laughing to him but he thought it was hysterical, too.
