Swaen Malt
« on: November 09, 2015, 05:21:56 pm »
Has anybody tried any of their malts? They're from the Netherlands and seem to just be hitting the US market, can't find much in the way of reviews. I'm interested in picking up a sack of their munich malt to try in some German lagers.

My LHBS carries it now. They tell me it's very similar in quality and varieties as german avangard malts. (they brew at the store).

Wow!  Kent and Chagrin Falls are, what, 20 miles apart and there's no direct freeway routes?  I guess I'm lucky with my LHBS just 10 minutes away.

Mine is 45 minutes away and I don't go that way very often anymore so I usually buy online.

I have done business with them online on occassion, and their sale prices are indeed tough to beat. It must be great to have access to them without needing to pay for shipping.

Mine is only 20 minutes, but their hours are so inconvenient they might as well be 2 hours away. Thankfully, the hardware store 2 minutes from my house has been expanding their homebrewing supplies section by leaps and bounds. I just need them to carry kegging supplies, bulk unmilled grain, and liquid yeast and I'd be all set.

Just another shameless plug here: so glad that work has me running around greater Cincinnati, so I really have 3 LHBS close to somewhere I happen to be working. In the end though, it is really nice that my office is only 15 minutes away from Listermann's Homebrew Supply Co and brewery!  Thanks Dan and crew!
