Frozen beer
« on: January 03, 2016, 01:17:22 pm »
I accidentally set my chest freezer to 22 vs 32 (cold crashing) and now have frozen beer in my plastic Speidel.

Anything I need to do outside of warming it back up to above freezing?

*hell, I even left the airlock on.

I'm also slightly concerned about the beer expanding and cracking the fermenter.

+1.  You may find out it's one of the clearer beers you've made.

Yep.  This ^^^^^.  No worries. I wouldn't reuse the yeast if the beer froze, but the beer will be just fine.

Yup.  Had this happen with a wheat beer.  Made a Kristallweizen (unintentionally).

I put the wrong temp probe in my beer once and froze the beer before it started fermenting.  Was really pissed I made such a dumb mistake but in the end the beer turned out pretty great, no off flavors from auto lysis or anything and I hut my FG.  I don't think you have much to worry about.
