Yeah I wouldn't do 100% pils with 830, but 833 or 835 it's good IMO.

My Pivo style pils uses 2124/830, as Matt does IIRC.

Personal preferences prevail as always. I just feel 830 is very clean and malt neutral, so I like to add some Carahell or other to bump up the malt,

Oh yeah, always. I like all pils with 2124 sometimes, especially a Pivo-type pils. But not always. Depends on the beer and what sounds good !

very excited - I ordered two pouches.  usually I start off with two and grow up from there but given the rarity I may just start smaller with one and hoard the other for the future.

Planning on dortmunder-->pilsner-->marzen-->golden bock

may even add a Baltic porter to that, although I am planning on a Golden Promise/Cascade Cali Common later this year, and the Cali Lager yeast makes a fine BP.

I had good results from this strain on a Maerzen Rauchbier last year.

It most definitely does.

     Just a quick bump on this topic. Is it safe to assume that this will ship in the new pouches rather than the old vials? Really should not make much difference since it will arrive as fresh as I can get it here in SE Indiana, now to just plan a strategy to put it to good use and find the brewing time. My schedule (tentative) has some double brew days coming up full of lagers, all 3.5 gallon batches including Pils, Ken's N German Pils, Jon's Dort, a bock, a pils from Marshall, and a vienna. Just gotta get it all organized to make it work for all of them in some sort of succesion

Fermenting: Nothing (ugh!)
Conditioning: Nothing (UGH!)
In keg: Nothing (Double UGH!)
In the works:  House IPA, Dark Mild, Ballantine Ale clone(still trying to work this one into the schedule)

When I got the WLP 611 New Nordic Blend from the Vault it came in a vial.  So, Lager X might come in either package.

Just received the email that Lager X is shipping today.  Time to plan this weekend's brew.  Has anyone brewed Jamil's Maibock recipe from BCS?  If so, how was it? I'm thinking of giving it a try with this yeast.
