American Wheat Mosaic
« on: April 01, 2019, 10:11:14 pm »
Brewed an American Wheat beer with Mosaic SH. It's so earthy that it tastes dirty. Anyone else find this happening with Mosaic? Maybe it will mellow out over time in the keg, only been in there a week or two.
Generally you don't see that kind of behavior in a major appliance.

Our club did a SMASH Pale ale a couple (maybe 5?) years back and I was assigned Mosaic and others had many other "new on the scene" hops, including some that just had numbers at the time.  As a solo hop, I grew tired of the Mosaic beer relatively quickly, though at the club event it was a highly preferred ale (Southern Cross turned out to be most folks' favorite).  Mosaic seems to be one of those hops that is best showcased as a compliment to another hop...could be that I made 10 gallons, though, and just suffered from palate fatigue over time.
